Vol. 209 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revenue from TV Advertising.

80.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the annual revenue arising from commercial advertising on Telefís Éireann since its inception.

I would refer the Deputy to Radio Éireann's second and third annual reports which contain the information required in respect of the quarter ended 31st March, 1962, and the year ended 31st March, 1963, respectively. I understand that copies of these Reports were supplied to every Deputy.

The position in respect of the year ended 31st March, 1964, will be covered in the Authority's fourth report which will not be available for a few months. In this connection I understand that although the figures have not yet been audited television advertising receipts amounted to about £1 million.
