asked the Minister for Education what progress has been made in regard to the general schools programme in Cork SouthWest.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate for inclusion in the Official Report a statement giving the information requested by the Deputy.

Following is the statement:—

SOUTH-WEST CORK

NATIONAL SCHOOLS

NEW SCHOOLS:

LisavairdLisbealadSt. Mary's DunmanwayDrinagh Boys' & Girls'Glandore/Reenogreena

These schools are in course of erection.

UrhanKnockskagh

Grants have been sanctioned for the erection of these schools. Contracts have not yet been placed.

RossmoreClonakilty Convent

Plans have been prepared; Grant stage not reached.

Inchiclough

A site has been offered. Office of Public Works have been asked to prepare sketch plans if site is suitable.

BaltimoreCorron

Sites offered have been found unsuitable: Managers have been requested to obtain alternative sites.

Ballygurteen

Formerly an improvement case; new school now recommended.

RENOVATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS:

Clonakilty Boys'

An improvements scheme has been partially completed.

Schull Boys'

A scheme of improvements is being carried out.

KnockbeeCurriglass

Grants have been sanctioned: Contracts have not yet been placed.

VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS

RENOVATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS:

Skibbereen

A building acquired by the County Cork Vocational Education Committee is being adapted for use as a girls' school. The work is nearing completion.

Clonakilty

An additional classroom is being provided. Work is in progress.
