Vol. 210 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price and Profit Control.

12.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether Ireland has been asked to furnish a report to any international body in regard to its policy on price and profit control.

Ireland, in common with other member countries of the OECD, supplied to a working party of the Organisation statistical and other factual information in connection with the preparation of its report on "Policies for Price Stability."

Could the Taoiseach say in any concise form what the policy is?

The views of OECD upon a variety of policies which have been applied by various members are contained in the publication which is available to Deputies. I should like the Deputy to study it. He might then be able to produce a policy of his own.

The Government have not got one, I suppose?

I asked the Taoiseach if he could say in a concise form what Government policy is?

That would not arise out of a question on the OECD report.

But what did the Government say?

Read the report.

This is an Irish Parliament, I presume.

But the question relates to the OECD report.

It does not. Look at it again. Read the question and you will see what it involves. The Taoiseach is getting a bit mixed up.
