Vol. 210 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Telephone Kiosks.

19.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of public telephone kiosks in the housing areas of (a) Finglas East, (b) Finglas West, and (c) Cabra, Dublin; the number of public telephone kiosks per thousand of the population in these areas; if he is aware that owing to the small number of kiosks there great difficulties can arise when it is necessary to make urgent telephone calls, particularly at night; and if he will ensure that a greater number of kiosks is provided in these areas.

The answer is: (a) 11; (b) 6; and (c) 15.

An additional kiosk is in course of erection in Finglas West and another in Cabra. When these are in service the total number will be 34, averaging one installation for every 1,900 of the population.

The number of kiosks in these areas is adequate and I do not agree that any undue difficulty is being experienced at present.
