Vol. 210 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway School Strike.

39.

andMr. Coogan asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of a school strike at Lackagh, Tourloughmore, County Galway; and, if so, what steps he intends to take in the matter.

I am so aware.

Sketch plans for a new school to replace Lackagh National School have been prepared. A grant will be sanctioned towards the cost of the school when satisfactory evidence of title to the site has been submitted. It is understood that such evidence to title will be forthcoming shortly.

In the meantime the Office of Public Works has been asked to prepare working drawings for the new school in view of the urgency of the case.

Can the Minister indicate when they may have a replacement?

It is being treated as a matter of urgency and the drawings are being prepared in anticipation of title. That is as far as I can go.
