Vol. 210 No. 6

Supplementary Estimate, 1964-65. - Vote 50—Central Mental Hospital.

I move:

That a sum not exceeding £41,200 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1965, for the Expenses of the Maintenance, etc., of Patients in the Central Mental Hospital.

Could the Minister indicate the number of nurses and persons employed now in the Central Mental Hospital and the number of patients for whom they care?

The Deputy will find the number of staff under subhead A. There are 84.

What is the number of patients?

As to the number of patients, 94, of course, the Deputy will understand that some of these are very difficult patients and there is no other place to put them.

I think the patient rate is higher.

It may be. I have no control over that.

Vote put and agreed to.
Progress reported; Committee to sit again.
