Vol. 210 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - SDA Loans.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of applicants in each of the past five years who have been refused local authority SDA loans because their income exceeds £832 per annum; and whether overtime is taken into account when assessing income for the purpose of SDA loan applications.

Since June, 1961, loans for the acquisition or construction of houses may be made by housing authorities to persons whose incomes do not exceed £1,040 per annum where the parent loan has been raised by the housing authority from the Local Loans Fund. The assessment of an applicant's income for the purpose of a loan is a matter for the local authority concerned. There is no information available in my Department as to the number of applications for local authority loans for the acquisition or construction of houses refused by local authorities.
