A decision on the question of extending the generating station at Arigna has to await the completion of the investigation into the economic utilisation of the coal reserves in the area for the generation of electricity, which is proceeding as rapidly as possible. The technical problems arising from the use of crow coal with a very high ash content have involved exhaustive examination by technical experts. A final appraisal of the practicability of utilising such fuel will, it is hoped, be available shortly.
