Vol. 211 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Atmospheric Pollution.

13.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of increasing pollution of the atmosphere by poisonous gases from exhausts of mechanically propelled vehicles with resultant danger to people's health, he will take steps to have all buses and heavy vehicles regularly inspected and refused permission to travel on the public roadway if in a defective condition; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A scheme of vehicle testing is being prepared in my Department.
