Vol. 211 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Offaly School Classroom.

27.

asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the causes of the long delay in providing a new classroom for the national school at Pullough, County Offaly.

28.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to erect the new classroom at Pullough National School, County Offaly; if it is a fact that this additional room is long overdue, and that it was recommended as a matter of urgency; if he will take steps to have the Office of Public Works erect this room and improve the sanitary arrangements at this school during the summer months this year; and if immediate action will be taken to remedy the present unsatisfactory overcrowding in this school.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 27 and 28 together.

The Reverend Manager is being authorised to have a prefabricated timber classroom provided at Pullough national school. It is expected that the classroom will be erected during the summer vacation. Investigations are being made by the Office of Public Works into the question of the provision of water-flushed sanitation at the school.

I am satisfied that there was no unavoidable delay in this case.
