Vol. 211 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Swimming Pools.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the lack of progress in Dublin city in the matter of provision of urgently needed swimming pools with water safety instruction for children; and what steps he proposes to take to expedite the provision of such facilities.

I am so aware. On numerous occasions I have stressed to local authorities the desirability of providing swimming pools and training facilities with the aid of the generous State subsidies which are available towards the cost. Initiative in the provision of these facilities, however, rests with the individual local authority.
