Vol. 211 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Schedule A Income Tax.

6.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance what action he proposes to take to meet the complaints of the Combined Residents Association about his recent reference to Schedule A Income Tax; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I replied to the Association on 16 June pointing out that the Commission on Income Taxation did not state that the abolition of Schedule A tax would result in a saving of £1 million annually to the Exchequer.

In fact, the total net produce of income tax under Schedule A for 1961/62, the latest year for which figures are available, was £1.3 million.
