asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications for new telephones from (a) Leitrim and (b) Roscommon made prior to 31st December last, and the number made up to the present date, respectively; and when these applications will be dealt with.

The numbers are (a) 19 and 38 respectively and (b) 59 and 89 respectively. Because of the need to concentrate effort on the trunk circuiting programme it will not be possible to clear more than a small number of the applications during the current year.
