asked the Minister for Finance the actual expenditure in the years 1959-60 to 1963-64 of the net capital cost of development proposals in accordance with the method of calculation set out in Appendix 1 of the First Programme for Economic Expansion.

The answer is in the form of a tabular statement and I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it in the Official Report.

GENERAL FOOTNOTE: The amounts shown in the Table do not represent the total expenditure on development projects during the first programme for economic expansion. The Table does not cover expenditure on projects which were not envisaged when the programme was being prepared.

(a)Net after making deductions for estimated savings on the discontinuance of Section B of the land project. The deductions were £0.25 million for 1959-60 and £0.5 million for each of the other years.

(b)Expenditure arose on these items but was not treated as capital expenditure.
