NOTE 1: Capital works carried out at the Sanatorium were financed by way of loan and without assistance from Exchequer or Hospitals Trust Fund.

NOTE 2: Capital expenditure by the health authority on the Sanatorium and adjacent District Hospital during the past 12 financial years covered the provision of a central heating and hot water system for both hospitals and the erection of a common boiler-house and water softening plant. Separate figures are not available for the portion of the expenditure which related solely to the Sanatorium but the health authority have indicated that it would be reasonable to assume that about 50% of the outlay was referable to the Sanatorium. The information given in the table above regarding estimated capital expenditure by the health authority has been based on this assumption.

NOTE 3: The Exchequer recoups 50% of allowable revenue expenditure on recognised health services. The difference between the amounts shown in columns (4) and (5) of above table for certain years is accounted for by loan charges which are not recoupable by the Exchequer and which were borne by the health authority itself.
