Vol. 211 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Corrib-Clare Drainage Scheme.

9.

Mr. Donnellan

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost of the Corrib-Clare drainage scheme; the acreage of arable land and bog that will then be relieved from flooding; and when he expects the scheme to be finished.

It is estimated that the total cost of the Corrib-Clare drainage scheme will be £3,100,000, and that 55,000 acres of agricultural land and 23,000 acres of bog will benefit. The scheme will be virtually completed during the current year but some works in the neighbourhood of Tuam will have to await alterations to the Tuam water supply by the county council.
