Vol. 212 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Tax Instalments.

44.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a Dublin Collector or Taxes has issued notices demanding payment of instalments of tax due on 1st July, 1964, bearing notices in red print that such tax will carry interest at the rate of part of a month from 1st January, 1964; and if he will take steps to have corrective notices issued without delay and to prevent incorrect notices being issued in future.

I am aware of the facts mentioned in the first part of the question which were due to a clerical error in the office of the Collector concerned. The necessary steps have been taken to prevent a recurrence of the error and the subsequent demands issued were correctly prepared. Any inconvenience caused is regretted.
