asked the Minister for Finance the total number of permanent and temporary civil servants employed on 1st June, 1964, and the total number of Civil Service pensioners on that date.

According to the annual Civil Service Census, which is related to the first working day of each year, 20,733 permanent and 9,650 temporary civil servants were serving on 1st January, 1964. These are the most up to date statistics available. On 1st June, 1964, the number of civil service pensioners was 3,801.
