Vol. 212 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revaluation of Houses.

50.

asked the Minister for Finance the average length of time which elapses between the time a house is reconstructed and it is revalued.

Normally, if the reconstruction of a house has not been grant-aided, the hereditament should be included in the next list for revision of valuation as from the following 1st March. Where an increase in the valuation is made by reason of enlargement or improvement, the valuation is deemed to be reduced for rating purposes by two-thirds of the increase for seven years after the completion of the work.

If the reconstruction has been grant-aided, the hereditament should be listed for revision of valuation as from the 1st March occurring after seven years following completion of the reconstruction.
