Vol. 212 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Concrete Plant.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of a proposal to establish a ready-mix concrete plant in the Johnstown/Cabinteely area, County Dublin, by Messrs. Road-stone Limited; that these areas are primarily residential; and that there are also hospitals and schools in the area; and if he will ensure that permission is not granted for the establishment of such a plant in this area or other residential areas because of the danger to health and the danger to children and other users of the roadway in these areas.

It is in the first instance a matter for the planning authority concerned to consider an application for permission to construct this type of plant. Any person aggrieved by a decision of a planning authority on such an application has the right to submit an appeal to me within the appropriate period. However, in the case referred to by the Deputy, I understand that the application received by Dublin County Council for permission to erect the plant has now been withdrawn.
