Vol. 212 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Cement Shortage.

20.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the shortage of supplies of cement to builders and builders' providers in Dún Laoghaire; and that the cement company is limiting deliveries with the result that many builders are finding it difficult to carry on; and if he will take immediate steps to remedy this situation.

I am aware that the current strike of employees of the builders' providers has caused great difficulty in the distribution of cement in the Dublin area. Cement Limited assure me that with the methods of distribution at their disposal they are doing their best to ensure an equitable distribution of available supplies.

If Cement Limited are given particulars of cases where difficulties exist, will they be prepared to take steps to ease those difficulties?

I should certainly recommend them to take steps.

Is it not true that Cement Limited are not supplying any cement in Dublin at the moment?

I believe they are doing the best they can to supply the needs of the builders.
