Vol. 212 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Government Elections.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government if it is his intention to introduce the ward system for local elections in Limerick city for the 1965 elections; and, if so, when he proposes to bring the required regulations before the House.

I have under consideration the question of dividing Limerick city into electoral areas for the purposes of local elections. I cannot yet say when an order effecting such a division will be made.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government at what date he proposes to bring before the House the new regulations covering local government elections as provided for under the Electoral Act, 1963.

Regulations to be made under section 82 of the Electoral Act, 1963, are being drafted. I cannot at present indicate the date on which the draft regulations will be laid before the House for their approval.
