Vol. 212 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Drainage.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that in the drainage of the Kilmastulla catchment area, Nenagh, County Tipperary carried out by the Office of Public Works the portion of the catchment area draining Kilmore, Ballincur and Kilboy was not included; and if drainage of these areas will now be undertaken.

The Kilmore, Ballincur and Kilboy areas were not included in the Kilmastulla drainage district which was constituted following a petition from local landowners under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1925. The drainage of these areas could now be undertaken by the Office of Public Works only as part of a comprehensive drainage scheme for the Kilmastulla catchment under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. The catchment is noted for treatment in the drainage programme but owing to present commitments and the extent of the drainage problem generally it is not possible at present to say when it will be reached.
