Vol. 212 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Terenure (Dublin) Steelworks.

34.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government what action he proposes to take on foot of the protest received by him from residents of Wainsfort Estate, Terenure, Dublin regarding the considerable annoyance caused to people in the area by the recent establishment of a steelworks there.

I recently received a complaint from local residents about the works in question. As I informed the Deputy in reply to a question last week, the Dublin County Council received a similar complaint and they are considering whether any action might be taken by them in respect of it. I have asked the county council to inform me of their decision in due course.

Mr. Ryan

Is the Minister in a position to state when the decision may be taken? There was one parade yesterday to the City Hall and there is a possibility of further traffic hold-ups by the indignant residents of Terenure, if the local authority do not move with more speed in relation to this disruption of their amenities.

I have no idea.

Is this a matter that must be decided in court?

I have not been so told.
