Vol. 212 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sand Damage to Sutton (Dublin) Property.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has now investigated the problem confronting residents of Burrow Road, Sutton, Dublin arising from the encroachment of wind-blown sea-sand on their gardens; if he is aware that the problem has intensified in recent months to such an extent that the houses are now threatened; and what steps can be taken by the Dublin Corporation and what powers they have to (a) provide immediate temporary relief and (b) effect a long-term solution.

Investigation of this matter by my Department has not yet been completed. The problem is a complex one and until the investigations are completed I cannot say what steps may be taken to effect a remedy. The question of a short-term solution to provide temporary relief is receiving special attention.
