Vol. 212 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Horse-Drawn Vehicles in Dublin Central City.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider indicating a date in the future on which he may make a regulation prohibiting the use of horse-drawn vehicles in the central city area of Dublin, with the possible exception of horse-cabs.

The prohibiting of horse-drawn vehicles in the central city area of Dublin is a matter which falls to be dealt with by bye-laws made under section 89 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961. While such bye-laws require my consent, they are made by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána who, I understand, is considering the problems involved.
