Vol. 214 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Housing Sites.

18.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in the case of people who in the past made what are now obviously false statements for the purpose of obtaining lands or housing sites from the Land Commission, he will take steps to ensure that such lands and sites are requisitioned by the Land Commission and that all financial outlay involving the Commission will be recovered from those who obtained title to the lands or sites under false pretences.

Over several years past, some few persons got allotments from the Land Commission on the strength of representations that the lands were required as sites for dwellinghouses but, in fact, such houses may not yet have all been erected.

It is generally possible to recover possession of an allotment for breach of agreement during the period before the land is vested in the allottee.

If the Deputy has a particular case in mind and communicates with the Land Commission they will give him the appropriate information.
