Vol. 214 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Water Supply Schemes.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals before his Department for a rural water scheme in the Ballygarrett-Cahore area of County Wexford; and, if not, if he will take the necessary steps to have a scheme prepared for the area in view of the present inadequate water supply there.

A water supply to the Ballygarrett-Cahore area is to be provided by Wexford County Council as Stage 3 of the Gorey and Courtown water supply scheme. The council submitted revised preliminary proposals in the matter to my Department on 22nd December, 1964, and these are at present under examination.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals before his Department for a rural water scheme in the Kilmuckridge area, County Wexford; and, if not, if he will give this matter immediate consideration, in view of the number of guest houses there and the present inadequate water supply.

There are no proposals requiring sanction before my Department at present in connection with the provision of a water supply for the Kilmuckridge area. The county council's preliminary proposals for the provision of a water supply for the district were approved on 16th January, 1964. I understand that contract documents for the scheme are at an advanced stage of preparation.
