Vol. 214 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Building of New Schools.

65.

asked the Minister for Education what is the normal time-lapse between the lodgment of official application forms and the advertisement for tenders from building contractors when it is proposed to build a new school.

The time factor in building new schools varies from case to case. Much depends on the location and size of the school, the nature of the site and the formalities to be attended to in regard to the transfer of the site to trustees.

Provided that a suitable site has been acquired and that no complications arise in regard to its transfer to school trustees the time-lapse to which the Deputy refers is about 2½ years.
