Vol. 215 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aid for Provision of House Amenities.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider making assistance available to Dublin Corporation tenants who wish to provide bathrooms or other modern amenities in older-type Corporation houses.

I would refer the Deputy to the recent White Paper Housing—Progress and Prospects which indicated that provision is being made in the new Housing Bill for the payment of grants to housing authorities for works of this nature.

Pending the enactment of the legislation, I will be prepared to consider applications for grants from local authority tenants, provided they obtain the consent of the local authority to the carrying out of these works.
