Vol. 215 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Central Building Maintenance Workshops.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the adaptation and equipment of the Dublin Central Building Maintenance Workshops proposed to be carried out by his Department; and when he expects this work to be completed.

Mr. Gibbons

At present maintenance services for State buildings in Dublin are provided from 13 workshops located in the city and suburbs. With a view to the provision of a more efficient maintenance system it is proposed to centralise operations in premises which have been acquired at Pembroke Row.

The adaptations which it is intended to carry out at those premises consist of internal alterations to provide canteen and toilet facilities for the men and offices for the clerical staff; the provision of improved heating in the workshop and the complete renewal of the electric wiring.

Details of the mechanical equipment to be installed in the workshop have not yet been decided on.

It is proposed to have the adaptation works carried out in stages and they should be completed in the next 12-18 months.
