Vol. 215 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing for Dublin Parish.

13.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of any plans that Dublin Corporation may have drawn up to prevent the further depopulation of Arran Quay parish, the population of which has been halved in the ten-year period since 1956 as a result of houses being condemned and people being transferred to Finglas, Ballymun and Coolock; and if there are any plans to erect houses in the derelict sites available in the Hendrick Street and Benburb Street areas.

I am informed that the housing authority have no plans for the erection of houses on derelict sites in the Hendrick Street and Benburb Street areas but that they have schemes in progress or at the planning stages for more than 300 new dwellings in the general area over the next few years.
