Vol. 215 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Derelict Site.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in rendering safe and developing the derelict site at Wharton Terrace, Harold's Cross, Dublin; the action taken thereon by the Dublin Corporation; and when it is expected that the site will be properly dealt with.

As indicated in reply to a previous question by the Deputy in this matter Dublin Corporation served notice under the Derelict Sites Act, 1961, with a view to preventing the site in question from continuing derelict but this action did not have the desired effect. It is understood that further action was deferred because new development proposals affecting the site were expected. These proposals have not materialised and I understand that the Corporation propose to proceed for the acquisition of the site under the Derelict Sites Act.

Would the Minister use his good offices in an endeavour to have expedition in this matter as the site is littered with a tremendous number of loose bricks and stones and people in adjoining property are having their windows and roofs broken because these stones are being thrown on to them?

Certainly anything I can do to help I shall gladly do.
