Vol. 215 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Santry (Dublin) By-pass.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of a reply of 29th May, 1958, the Dublin Corporation have delayed excessively in their plans to construct the Santry by-pass road; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The very considerable increase in the traffic carried on this route in recent years and the projected future traffic growth have involved reconsideration of the earlier proposals. The question of the appropriate design standards to be applied to the route has been the subject of consultation between the engineering officers of the Corporation, the County Council and my Department. I am at present considering the recommendations of the engineering officers of my Department arising out of these consultations, and I hope to communicate with the two road authorities concerned on the matter in the near future.
