Vol. 215 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonmel Post Office Buildings.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the new telephone exchange, engineering stores, office and garage accommodation in Clonmel, County Tipperary; and when he expects this work to be completed.

The final details of this scheme have not yet been worked out, but it will include the provision of an automatic telephone exchange, stores and garage accommodation for the Engineer's Branch, improved toilet etc., facilities for the postal and engineering staffs and an extension of the sorting office accommodation.

It is intended to have some preparatory work consisting of demolition and site clearance carried out during the current year, but at this stage I am not in a position to say when the main part of the work is likely to commence.
