Vol. 215 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Electricity Voltage.

5.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware of the low electricity voltage available in some parts of Ballyfermot, Dublin; and if he will ensure that the voltage is increased.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the problem of increasing the voltage of the electricity supply in certain areas in Ballyfermot where the voltage has been low has been receiving constant attention from the Board.

Since last Christmas, when the low-voltage of the supply caused a certain amount of inconvenience to consumers, the Board have completed a new substation at Garryowen Road, Ballyfermot. This had been delayed for about three months by the building strike. They have also erected two pole substations in the Oranmore Road Area. Another pole substation is scheduled for erection at Drumfin Avenue and the Board are at present endeavouring to acquire a site on which to build a further substation in the area.

In addition, an extended programme of reconstruction of low tension networks is in progress in the Ballyfermot area.
