Vol. 215 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Potatoes.

39.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of a recent report to the effect that the price of potatoes has been increased by 66 per cent in the past year, he will make an investigation into the reason for this exorbitant rise.

I am informed that the increased price of potatoes is due to the difference in the supply position obtaining in 1963-1964 as compared with 1964-1965. As Deputies are aware the prices paid to producers for primary agricultural products are specifically excluded from the provisions of the Prices Act, 1958.
