Vol. 215 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wandering Dogs.

42.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will introduce proposals for legislation obliging the owners of dogs to attach a collar to each dog for the purpose of identifying the owner with a view to protecting sheep owners who have suffered serious losses due to the depredations of wandering dogs.

The question of strengthening the statutory controls relating to the control of dogs is at present under consideration in my Department.

I hope to be in a position to make an announcement on the subject before next year's lambing season commences.

Muzzles should be put on, not collars.

I know whom I should like to muzzle.

The Minister tried to, but he failed. He put down poison, too.
