Vol. 215 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pasteurisation of Whey.

45.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if his Department have recently made a regulation compelling new milk processing firms to pasteurise whey; and if he will state the reason for such a regulation.

All licences issued for new cheese factories in recent years provide for the pasteurisation of whey. As in the case of skim milk pasteurisation at creameries the purpose is to eliminate the danger of the spread of bovine tuberculosis through the whey.
