Vol. 215 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Store Pig Trade.

53.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make a statement on the present slump in the store pig trade; and what steps have been taken to date to meet the situation.

There has been some decline in store pig prices in recent months, but there is not a slump in the trade. Prices of stores fluctuate from time to time in response to supply and demand conditions but the guaranteed minimum prices for good quality finished pigs limit the extent of such fluctuations.
