Vol. 216 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Local Government Inspector.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give the official address of the local government inspector who inspects houses built in the Limerick area for the purpose of ascertaining whether such houses qualify for the £275 grant.

Housing inspectors have no official addresses. Arrangements for inspection of houses by the housing inspectors are made by the Department as required and any inquiries in the matter should be addressed to the Department.

Will the Minister tell me why they have not any permanent addresses? Are they employed by his Department or by the Department of Justice in the Secret Service?

That is entirely a separate question.

Why can we not obtain their names and addresses? We are inundated in Limerick with demands for inspections in order that people may qualify for the final grant, but we cannot find the inspector.

If the Deputy makes inquiries at the Department, we will arrange that the inspections be carried out.

Why can we not find out who the inspector is and where he lives in order to make representations to him directly? Is it because there is lack of money from the Government to pay these grants that they are being delayed for so long?

There is no lack whatever.

I shall raise the matter again.
