asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the amount paid since March, 1957, in State grants to firms which have since ceased production.

A total amount of £1,056,000 was paid in industrial grants since March, 1957, to firms which have since ceased production. Of this total £341,000 related to the GEC undertaking at Dundalk. As regards the balance of £715,000, projects which accounted for £318,940 approximately were taken over by other concerns and negotiations are in progress for the acquisition by other interests of projects representing a further £90,000 approximately.
