Vol. 216 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Regional Hospital.

69.

asked the Minister for Health at what stage are the plans for the new regional hospital for Cork; and when it is hoped to commence work on it.

I am considering whether, having regard to the length of time since the planning of this hospital commenced, there should be a new approach to the problem so as to ensure that when the hospital is completed the design and lay-out will be in full accord with modern concepts, in the interests of ensuring that the people of Cork will have available to them the best possible hospital treatment.

I propose, as soon as it can be arranged, to visit Cork and discuss this, and other matters, with the Cork Health Authority.

Does this visualise new preparation of plans and specifications? Is the Minister aware that £30,000 has been spent on it already?

It will not be built until Tibb's Eve anyway.
