Vol. 216 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Maize Quotas.

40.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give details of the basis of allocation to flour mills of the maize quotas and state for the current quota year the allocation to each mill; and whether flour mills about to close will receive favourable consideration in the allocation of such quotas by his Department and An Bord Gráin.

Allocations of maize quotas to flour millers who are also provender millers are on the same basis as those made to all other users, that is, purchases in the datum period of 1st January, 1959 to 29th February, 1960. It is not the practice to disclose information relating to individual traders. Maize quotas are in no way related to flour milling licences but applications by former flour millers for new or increased quotas will be examined on their merits.
