Vol. 216 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quality Milk Bonus Scheme.

37.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether it is proposed to make any modifications in the system of milk testing at creameries in the light of the results obtained to date in the operation of the quality milk bonus scheme.

There is no evidence so far that any change in the system is necessary.

Is the Minister aware that the percentage being passed has been reduced to less than 25?

I am not so aware and I am quite satisfied that the position is not so.

38.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware of the fact that a number of creamery milk suppliers who began to supply milk to creameries after the first quality test had been made subsequently passed all three remaining tests but did not receive the penny bonus; and, if so, the reason why these people were ruled out.

I have already notified creameries that the special allowance may be paid in such cases for the month of May.
