Vol. 217 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Street Junction Traffic.

24.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has made further inquiries into the effect which the activities of the Garda point duty man at the junction of Grafton Street and Nassau Street have in assisting pedestrians to traverse Dawson Street at the junction of that street with Nassau Street.

The special attention of members of the Garda Síochána on duty at the Grafton Street/Nassau Street junction has been drawn to the need to ensure that traffic entering Nassau Street from Upper Grafton Street is halted at the same time as traffic entering from Lower Grafton Street. In this way it is expected that there will be definite breaks in the traffic-flow at the north end of Dawson Street.

Would the Minister say when this direction was given? I spared about six minutes of my valuable time on Tuesday of this week and during that period no effort was made by the Gárda Síochána on point duty to stop the flow of traffic into Nassau Street from Lower Grafton Street.

I watched there briefly this morning and I thought there was a very distinct effort.

We must go there together.

They would surely have to let the Minister pass.
