asked the Minister for Defence the number of applications received this year from persons wishing to be cadets; when interviews will be held; and the number of vacancies to be filled.

A total of 379 completed application forms for this year's competitions for cadetships were received from eligible applicants by the latest date for the receipt of such forms, 369 of the applications being for cadetships in the Army and ten of them for cadetships in the Naval Service. The interviewing of the candidates commenced on the 5th July, 1965, and will continue until early next month. There are 50 vacancies for cadetships in the Army and five for cadetships in the Naval Service.
