Vol. 217 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Courts.

71.

asked the Minister for Justice if there are any plans for the provision of a District Court and Circuit Court in Dún Laoghaire.

As the Deputy may be aware a resolution was adopted at a recent meeting of Dún Laoghaire Borough Council urging the establishment of a permanent District and Circuit Court in Dún Laoghaire with full jurisdiction, and in the case of the District Court with weekly sittings.

Sittings of the District Court in Dún Laoghaire are already provided for. Any extension of the present sittings is a matter for the President of the District Court to whom the matter was referred for consideration following the receipt of the resolution.

With regard to the Circuit Court sittings, the statutory function of determining the place at which that court should sit in each circuit lies with the President of the Circuit Court to whom the matter was referred for consideration in relation to the proposal regarding the Circuit Court.
