Vol. 217 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Health Authority Compounders.

80.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in granting the increase recommended by the Dublin Health Authority to the compounders in their employment; and when this increase will be sanctioned.

I understand that negotiations have been proceeding between representatives of pharmacists employed in the local authority service outside Dublin and representatives of their health authorities and that an offer of revised remuneration made last month on behalf of the health authorities is being considered by the staff representatives.

In view of the desirability of maintaining national scales, I have found it necessary to defer my decision on proposals received last month from the Dublin Health Authority in relation to pharmacists employed by that authority while the other negotiations I have referred to are in progress. I hope, however, that agreement will be reached shortly and, when it is, I shall convey my decision on the proposals of the Dublin Health Authority without delay.
