30.

asked the Minister for Defence the commodities and services the prices of which are controlled or regulated by him under any enactment, any instrument made thereunder or in discharge of any statutory duty.

I have no function in regard to the control or regulation of prices of commodities and services which are available to the public generally.

My Department determines the prices of a variety of commodities made available on a repayment basis to personnel of Óglaigh na hÉireann. In exceptional cases my Department makes available on a repayment basis for outside persons and bodies certain commodities and services, e.g. water, electricity, transport, carrying out of works in barracks for civilian contractors and civilian tenants of military premises. The charges made in such cases are generally determined on a non-profit making basis.
